French Provincial dining table and chairs

History

This French Provincial dining table and chairs once belonged to my grandmother Marion Boisot Ford and were part of the furnishings at her Moon Trail Ranch home at 16 Via Las Encinas in Carmel Valley, California, overlooking Carmel Valley. The sideboard can be seen in the background of photographs taken at the 1951 wedding of Patricia Ford and Alexander D. Henderson.

The dining set also included a matching French Provincial sideboard that stood nearby. During family gatherings, it was used as a buffet table to hold serving dishes, allowing everyone to help themselves before taking their place around the dining table. Together, the table, chairs, and sideboard became a familiar part of our family's holiday traditions and the memories of time spent at my grandmother's Carmel Valley home.

When Marion Ford died in 1990, the dining set was passed down to her duaghter, Patricia, who used it in her Carmel home on Scenic Road. After Patricia died in 2024 and the Carmel house was sold, the dining table and matching sideboard were passed down to her son, Greg Henderson, preserving the set within the family for another generation.

I have many fond memories of sitting around this table with our family when we visited her for holidays and special occasions. The table was located in a sunken dining room, where family and friends gathered to share meals, conversation, and celebrations over the years.
