August 6, 1931 Her father died in Berkeley, California of pneumonia, although he was very debilitated by tuberculosis. She was two years old and she was brought up by her mother.
  Joan loved animals and as a child, she rode her stallion horse all over the hills of what is now Walnut Creek, California.

1987 Joan and Herb moved to Mariposa to semi retire and run the Mariposa Lodge.
1988-2007 Joan and Herb raised Swiss Mountain show dogs and won blue ribbons in many conformation classes. She served on the boards of the Chamber and the Economic Development Corporation. Joan also donated property to the Mining and Mineral Museum.
October 8, 2007 Joan Gloor died peacefully and without pain between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m. at home in bed on Veteran's Day.
